Hulu Watch Party: Enjoying Shows Together
What is a Hulu Watch Party and how does it work?
A Hulu Watch Party is a feature that allows Hulu subscribers to watch movies and TV shows together with friends and family in different locations. To start a Watch Party, users can select the Watch Party icon on the Details page of a title on Hulus website. They can then invite up to 7 other Hulu subscribers to join the Watch Party by sharing a link. Once everyone has joined, the host can start the Watch Party and enjoy synchronized playback with a group chat feature for real-time interactions.
Can I use Hulu Watch Party on any device?
Currently, Hulu Watch Party is only available for streaming on Hulu.com using a web browser on a desktop or laptop computer. The feature is not supported on mobile devices, smart TVs, or streaming devices like Roku or Amazon Fire TV. However, Hulu may expand Watch Party compatibility to other devices in the future.
How many people can participate in a Hulu Watch Party?
A Hulu Watch Party can accommodate up to 8 people, including the host. This means that the host plus 7 invited guests can watch and chat together in real-time during the Watch Party session. Each participant must have their own Hulu subscription to join a Watch Party.
Are there any restrictions on what content can be watched during a Hulu Watch Party?
While most of Hulus on-demand content is available for Watch Party viewing, there are some limitations. Live TV, premium add-ons like HBO, Cinemax, and STARZ, as well as content that is not included in the Hulu streaming library, cannot be watched as part of a Watch Party. Additionally, content that is restricted by location or age restrictions may not be available for Watch Party streaming.
Can I control playback or chat settings during a Hulu Watch Party?
As the host of a Hulu Watch Party, you have control over playback settings, such as play, pause, rewind, and fast forward. You can also manage the chat feature, including muting participants or disabling chat entirely if needed. Guests in the Watch Party can interact with the chat and react to the content being watched, but they do not have playback control.
